New Years Early

The Fosters, The Stobers, The Bakers, The Wilsons. Olivia, Ashton, Ruby, and Hayden. Ruby is walking, Olivia is babbling, Ashton is winking, and Hayden is the cute little sweetheart that 10 weeks brings. Olivia is taking steps and has officially registered her first steps on her own. Christmas was a joy with dozens of family members holding Olivia and laughing with her. We played Wii a ton. All the adults of all ages enjoyed bowling, tennis, and pool on the Wii. Fun for all ages, including 1 year olds. This was the 2nd christmas for Liv and she certainly appreciated all the festivities and Christmas spirit. She's a HAM, for sure. All you have to do is look her way, when she's in a mood and she'll ham it up for the crowd. Liv got some new See Kai Run shoes. Her first pair of real shoes. She got them at Nordstrom, and they took her picture and gave her a stuffed animal. What a great first experience! She loves Winston and Riley. Although she needs to learn to be gentle. More to come, as she's the best thing ever and we need to get back to being a part of the Liv experience.

Halloween

The first pumpkin patch and Halloween are in the books. Pics can be found at www.picasaweb.google.com/mrwilson2. Liv was an Octopus. Great fun! Pics of her friends Ruby and Ashton are online as well. We watched a trebuchet launch pumpkins, went for a hay ride on a tractor, and selected pumpkins for carving.
Teething is still going on and comes and goes in waves. It's usually associated with a diaper rash, so she's extra crabby. Fun times. She evens it out with her adventures and laughter. Too much fun. Holidays are soon approaching and family will be in town for Thanksgiving and her first birthday. More to come.

6 Months Old

A couple teeth, a few "momma" and "mommy"'s, a few more inches taller, a few more pounds. Smarter and smarter every day. Just over 6 months old and things are great. Liv will be baptized in July. Her auntie Melissa is coming out from New York. So many wonderful things going on. Very exciting.

Teething

The teething phase is upon us. Liv is getting a couple bottom front teeth. A little painful and discomforting. 5 months old. Happy and healthy. A little pissed here and there. But dealing. Hilarious most of the time. Jumpin around in her bouncy chair. Starting to eat solids. Squash is one of her first solids. Seems to like it, though she'll likely grow out of that. Headin down to see her cousin Amalia and the family in California. Will be the first plane flight for Liv. Should be a good long weekend in the Bay Area. That's all for now.

Mom's Bday comin up. Liv is 4 1/2 months

Experiencing the world a little farther out every day. Venturing out to meet other kids. Other families sprouting up all over. Liv has many friends she hasn't met yet. Should make for some busy times for mom and dad. We continue to be excited. Nothing more important in our hearts and minds. Bed time routine is pretty standard. Getting up 1-2 times a night to eat. 12.5 lbs at last check in. Strong grip. Astoundingly strong. Smiles are here. What a payoff. A little hard work by mom and dad, and you get the best reward. A huge smile that melts you.

Language

Not there yet. But talkin up a storm. Liv is making all kinds of noises. She's playing for extended periods of time. She's very alert. Lungs are strong and you sure can tell. She's got a voicebox on her. She laughs and plays. She has a strong grip and has started holding things and putting them in her mouth. She also puts her hand in her mouth. She's using her senses of touch, taste, and smell. Likely along with sight and hearing. But for sure, slobber. She's got that down. She is so much fun. She stands up almost completely on her own. She holds herself up in the bath without any help from mom and dad. In the baby bathtub, she's got her own seat. She just needs to find the walls of the tub to balance herself, then she doesn't use the walls. She's enjoying the bath and playtime. Along with walks, friends, and aunties. More to come.

Cleanliness

Wow. Bathing is fun. Liv could spend all day in the tub now. Like a light switch. The comfort continues to come every day with new things. Growing bigger, getting more balance, and enjoying life. Things are fun.

Sleep

Wow. A couple nights in a row. Not sure what's better. Sleep for baby. Or sleep for us. We'll take both. Almost 8 weeks old. Sleeping 5-6 hours straight. Up for a half and hour. Then back to bed for 2-3 more hours. Not too bad. Routine? Could be. Schedule? For sure. We're shooting for 8:00 pm bedtime. Could get earlier as she gets older. Thanks Liv. Mommy and Daddy appreciate it!

Joy

joy n. The emotion of great delight or happiness caused by something exceptionally good or satisfying; keen pleasure; elation.

Arriving home I was greeted by a smile from Liv and an audible response that in the context, could easily be translated to be 'Hi Dad'. Very exciting and very cool!

A typical there's Daddy. Her seeing me. Me saying hello. Her smiling back at me. Followed by her making a hello noise back to me. Pure joy. Can't wait for the words to come pouring out. Every day is new. Goes without saying. We're enjoying every day of it.

Wonderment

wonderment n. Astonishment, awe, or surprise. Something that produces wonder; a marvel. Puzzlement or curiosity.

Six and a half weeks have gone by and life is great. Some quick points of interest in the life and times of Liv.
Doc visit went great today (1/15/07). She's gained 11 oz in 10 days. "That's amazing. I can't believe how she can hold her head up so well at this age." - Dr. Joyce Wu. She's up to 8 lbs 8 ozs.
Sunday, she hung out with her friends during the Seahawks game. Vance (6 months) and Cash (3 months).
Last week she was visited by Aunt Melissa, Grandma Mary Kay, Grandma Sheila, and Grandpa Jim.
When asked to comment on her plans today, she had this to say "urrggh". Good times.
